The UK’s Compromised Print Media

The tables below show that the majority of newspaper readers buy right-wing papers, while centre-ground papers have much fewer readers. In other words, there is very little representation for critiques of the economic and political status quo in the conventional print media.

[Note that: News UK is The Sun and The Times (i.e. Rupert Murdoch); DMGT is The Mail (i.e. Lord Rothermere); Northern and Shell is The Express and The Star (i.e. Richard Desmond); Trinity Mirror is The Mirror; The Telegraph Media Group is The Telegraph (i.e. David and Frederick Barclay); Lebedev is The Evening Standard, The Independent, and The i (i.e. Evgeny Lebedev); Pearson was the biggest shareholder of The Financial Times (which is now owned primarily by the Cadbury, Rothschild, Schroder, and Agnelli families); and The Guardian Media Group is The Guardian.]
